1656-1746 French Nicolas de Largilliere Gallery Nicolas de Largilli??re (October 10, 1656 - March 20, 1746), French painter, was born in Paris. His father, a merchant, took him to Antwerp at the age of three. As a boy, he spent nearly two years in London. Sometime after his return to Antwerp, a failed attempt at business led him to the studio of Goubeau. However, Largilli??re left at the age of eighteen to seek his fortune in England, where he was befriended and employed by Lely, for four years at Windsor. His skills attracted Charles II, who wished to retain him in his service, but the fury aroused by the Rye House Plot against Roman Catholics alarmed Largilli??re. He left for Paris where he was well received by Le Brun and Van der Meulen. Despite his Flemish training as a portrait-painter, his reputation was soon established. Largilli??re's brilliant colour and lively touch attracted celebrities of his day??actresses, public men and popular preachers flocked to his studio. Maria Christina Röhl, född i Stockholm den 26 juli 1801, död i Klara församling, Stockholm den 5 juli 1875, var en svensk porträttmålare som avbildade ett flertal samtida kända personer. Medlem i konstakademien (1843) och hovleverantör. Hennes tavlor hänger bland annat på Nationalmuseum i Stockholm. En samling av 1800 porträtt finns på Kungliga Biblioteket. Maria Röhl växte upp i en rik familj, men då hon blev föräldralös 1822 drabbades hon av fattigdom. Hon tänkte först bli guvernant, men professorn och kopparstickaren Christian Forsell undervisade henne då i teckning; hon hade redan tidigare undervisats av målaren Alexander Hambr??, och fick nu lära sig att utföra snabba och realistiska porträtt i blyerts; hon arbetade i blyerts och krita i svartvitt. Hon bodde hos familjen Forsell, där hon först avbildade familjens vänner och sedan, då det hade blivit modernt att låta avbilda sig av "mamsell Röhl", försörjde hon sig på detta i trettio år. Hon utnämndes till kunglig hovmålare 1843, studerade 1843-1846 under Leon Cogniet vid Franska konstakademien i Paris och hade sedan en atelj?? i Brunkebergs hotell i Stockholm. Fotografikonsten blev en svår konkurrent under hennes sista år. Även systern Eva Röhl (1810-96) uppges ha haft viss konstärlig begåvning.

(born in Grenoble on 4 May 1812, died in Proveysieux on 21 September 1883) was a French landscape painter. Ravanat's work is mostly composed of Dauphine landscapes. His paintings are generally among private collections of Grenoble, but some of these paintings can be seen at the Museum of Grenoble or the Musee dauphinois.
